I am excited to announce eight high school students living in Ivins have been accepted to the 2022-2023 Ivins Youth Council. They are: Samuel Gillette, Averi Jackson, Brennen Kinslow, Kaison McDonald, Connor Oliphant, Mikiela Snyder, Roxie Sparling, and Summer Terry. Youth members are supported by a group of Advisors, led by Jamy Dahle, the Youth Council’s Director.
The Ivins Youth Council was established by the Ivins City Council to give the youth of Ivins a voice on city issues, an understanding of how city government works, an opportunity to provide a service to the community that will showcase the dedication of youth in Ivins, and to provide the knowledge, skill, and abilities to the next generation of local leaders.
Ivins Youth Council members will inject fresh ideas and youth perspectives into decisions made by the City Council for the benefit of all youth in Ivins.
Youth members will have an initial orientation meeting and BBQ next week hosted by Bob Morris, a very active Youth Council Advisor, followed by a swearing in ceremony at City Hall on May 19th. You will be hearing a lot more about the Youth Council and its goals and activities soon.
