We got good news at last night’s joint meeting of the Ivins and Santa Clara City Councils about the operation of the Ivins Center Street Fire Station.

Chief Parker and Santa Clara’s City Manager, Brock Jacobsen, have worked hard over the past few weeks to move staffing around and trim costs so Center Street can be operated with three full-time Fire Captains, three full-time EMTs, and eight volunteers. That’s a great first step.
How fast can that happen? Chief Parker said all he needs is a week. Both City Councils appear ready to make that happen, so let’s hope bureaucracy doesn’t keep slowing things down.
There was a large turnout of citizens at last night’s meeting. And although it wasn’t a public hearing and nobody in the audience could speak, the strong turnout itself spoke volumes. Thank you for coming.
